Container ship Yanina sank in the Black Sea after a drone attack, Rosatom says
This was stated to Kommersant by Alexei Likhachev, head of the state corporation.
"It was the most ordinary peaceful container ship, sailing in international waters and carrying civilian goods, from frozen food to construction and finishing materials. It is impossible to interpret such an attack as anything other than piracy and maritime brigandage," he noted.
According to him, the vessel sank on the night of August 1 in the Black Sea, 130 miles from Novorossiysk, as a result of an attack by two Ukrainian sea drones. All 17 crew members were rescued.
The ship in question is the Yanina, owned by FESCO, which is part of Rosatom's corporate perimeter.
