Humanity is stronger than propaganda: Brotherhood fighters convinced a Russian serviceman to surrender

During an assault operation in June 2026, fighters of the Jesus Christ Company of the Brotherhood battalion, operating as part of the Timur Special Unit of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, saved a Russian soldier from death by convincing him to lay down his arms and surrender.

Even in the most difficult combat conditions, Ukrainian servicemen comply with the norms of international humanitarian law and the principles of humane treatment of prisoners of war.

After the Russian serviceman surrendered, the Brotherhood group escorted him out of the combat zone under attacks from Russian FPV drones and artillery, risking their own lives to preserve the life of the prisoner. It is important for us to replenish the exchange pool in order to bring Ukrainians back from Russian captivity. Therefore, Russian soldiers on Ukrainian soil can be sure that they will keep their lives if they lay down their arms and surrender.
