Parade of the dead: clear examples of how many Russian Armed Forces servicemen Russia has already lost in the war in Ukraine

In the Soviet Union, there was no tradition of annual parades on May 9. After the war, the authorities and the population of the USSR knew they had little to celebrate. The result of the war was millions dead and wounded, destroyed homes, a ruined economy, and famine.

The war started by Putin is already bringing Russia the same consequences. Right now, the "I Want to Return" website contains information on 229,394 dead Russian Armed Forces servicemen. This is a catastrophic number, although it is far from reflecting the full scale of the Russian army's losses in Ukraine.

But what does 229,394 dead Russian Armed Forces servicemen mean?

It is more than 15 full-strength motor rifle or tank divisions with 15 thousand dead servicemen in each. Or 57 separate brigades of the Russian Ground Forces, wiped "to zero."

To transport the bodies of all the dead by train, it would take 4,588 fully packed open-plan sleeper cars. If the dead were placed four people to a passenger car, it would make an unbroken column of 57,349 cars stretching from Moscow to Voronezh.

229,394 dead servicemen is more than the entire population of Veliky Novgorod. In other words, a whole Russian regional capital completely wiped out because of the war.

All the dead Russian military personnel would fill the stands of four packed Luzhniki stadiums. Their bodies could completely cover 64 football fields.

If the dead Russian military personnel were lined up shoulder to shoulder, the result would be a line about 115 kilometers long - longer than the conventional boundary of space.

Red Square, where Putin receives his military parade, would not be able to hold all the Russian military personnel already killed. To bury them, it would take a cemetery about the size of 120 Red Squares.

And all of this is only the confirmed minimum presented on the "I Want to Return" website. The real number of dead is significantly higher and continues to grow every day. Putin keeps sending Russians to war against Ukraine, where they are wounded, go missing, and die.

Hundreds of thousands of families across Russia have forever lost sons, husbands, and fathers. For what? So that the Russian authorities can send more Russians to their deaths, and Putin can hold yet another parade, having learned none of the main lessons of war.
