I live in a stanitsa with a population of about two thousand people. At least twenty men have already “died in the line of military duty.” These are someone’s fathers, husbands, fiances. One family with five children was left without a father. Twenty are only those whose fate is known for sure and who were buried here. In reality, I think many more will never return.

Prices are rising, the harvest is being delayed, and on the streets all anyone talks about is where to get gasoline. Drones are flying and keep hitting somewhere. The internet is constantly going out, and you worry about your loved ones, your friends, your acquaintances. And when there is internet, you are afraid to say some careless word online.

And they briskly report to us about the “liberation” of some Kostiantynivka. And we are supposed to be happy about that? Why the hell do we need this Kostiantynivka? Why the hell do we need everything that has been “liberated” at all? Has it made our lives any better? So far things are only getting worse. And how many people were thrown away under that Kostiantynivka? How many fathers, husbands, fiances, sons, and brothers will never come home? What is there to celebrate?

I do not understand at all how anyone can support this! But unfortunately, I personally know such people. They would sooner choke themselves than admit that the “special military operation” has brought nothing but a heap of troubles and problems. And they will go on worshipping that senile fool who said he would continue the war “until the goals of the special military operation are achieved.” They will never admit that he is wrong. Anyone will be to blame: Ukraine, the “collective West,” the Americans, the Anglo-Saxons, anyone except the one who unleashed this senseless slaughter with all the resulting turmoil for his own country.

Everything bad ends someday, there are no endless wars, but at what price will it end? How many more must die around all these “Mali Tokmachkas,” how many more problems must arise for civilians far from the front?
