Aleksei Zhukov is one of many Russians who were captured in Ukraine and sent back into assaults after an exchange.

He was first taken prisoner in 2024. After the exchange, he hoped to return home to see his sick mother, but instead he faced interrogations in Mosrentgen, and then was branded a “traitor to the motherland” in his home unit, where he was sent immediately without leave or rehabilitation. There, he was handcuffed and simply tortured for having been in captivity. On his very first combat mission, Aleksei was captured again, which he does not regret at all. In Ukrainian captivity, it is simply safer and nobody is tortured.
