The EU imposed sanctions against VK and Max’s developer. This is stated in the EU’s updated sanctions list. The list, in particular, includes VK’s subsidiary “Communication Platform,” which developed the state messenger Max. LLC “Communication Platform”...

The EU also imposed sanctions on developers and suppliers of software for lawful interception systems (SORM) — the companies VAS Experts, Norsi-Trans, and Citadel.

The EU document says that SORM is used to persecute journalists, opposition figures, protest organizers, critics of the authorities, and activists opposing the war in Ukraine.

In addition, the EU imposed sanctions on employees of Penal Colony No. 10 in Mordovia, as well as on nine people and four organizations believed to be involved in Russian cyberattacks in Europe.
