On May 13, the State Duma is set to elect a new human rights commissioner. The current ombudswoman, Tatyana Moskalkova, who has served two terms, can no longer hold the post under the law.
Lantratova began her career in the Young Guard of United Russia and in that time managed to rise to head one of the Duma's committees, to which she was elected from A Just Russia. In 2022, Lantratova helped her party leader Sergey Mironov forcibly remove a child from Kherson. Later, Mironov adopted the girl and changed her name.
