The European Union is preparing for possible negotiations with Putin

EU countries “have the potential” for negotiations with Putin, and the bloc has the support of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for such negotiations, European Council President António Costa said.

“I am holding talks with the leaders of the 27 EU countries to determine the best way to organize our work and understand what we need to discuss with Russia when the right moment comes,” Costa added.

According to him, the EU is not going to interfere with the negotiations being mediated by the United States and for now sees no signals that Moscow is ready for dialogue with Brussels.

In the European Union, there is growing disappointment with the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia being mediated by the United States. European countries fear that the talks are dragging on, while they themselves have been left out of the discussion of possible settlement terms.
