Political prisoner Richard Rose faces yet another criminal case in prison

A new case has been opened against Richard Rose, who is already serving eight years in the “war fakes” case and for justifying terrorism, this time under the article on rehabilitating Nazism. The prisoner’s support group writes about this.

Richard’s wife Maria is asking for maximum publicity. She assumes the new case may have been opened because of Richard’s conversations with other prisoners or an essay he wrote in the colony. The family has no other information so far.

The persecution of Richard Rose

In 2023, he was sentenced to eight years in a penal colony on charges of spreading “fake” information about the Russian army and justifying terrorism because of posts about the war and the comment: “There is only one way to stop Putler: kill him physically.”

Rose was arrested in April 2022. He said that after his detention he was beaten inside the FSB building. In pretrial detention, Rose gave a confession after security officers threatened to arrest his wife, send his son to an orphanage, and create unbearable prison conditions for the man himself. One of the FSB officers also promised to “cut off [all] his channels of communication.”

A “fakes” case was also opened against his wife Maria Rose because of posts about the events in Bucha. She was then additionally charged with calls for extremism. A few months later, Maria Rose, who was not arrested during the investigation, left Russia with her son. She was sentenced in absentia to five and a half years in a penal colony.
