The protocol against Boris Nadezhdin was drawn up over a photo of Alexei Navalny

Boris Nadezhdin published a photograph of the document on his Telegram channel. It says that the reason for the protocol was a post on Nadezhdin’s channel with a link to a video showing a photograph of Navalny (the post has now been deleted).

“...a publication was identified, with a link to [YouTube], in which a photographic image of citizen A.A. Navalny is shown, who is the founder and leader of the non-profit organizations ‘Anti-Corruption Foundation’ and ‘Citizens’ Rights Protection Foundation,’ which by a legally binding decision of the Moscow City Court dated 09.06.2021 were recognized as extremist organizations and liquidated... the screen shows a photographic image of citizen A.A. Navalny,” the protocol says.

Yevgeny Smirnov, a lawyer with Pervy Otdel, notes that accusations of this kind are unlawful.

“Symbols recognized as extremist must be specified in a court ruling. No court ruling has banned Navalny’s surname or his face, and they cannot be banned. A person’s first name, last name, and appearance are things that cannot be taken away from them,” the expert comments.

Boris Nadezhdin said he was being taken to court. If the politician is found guilty, he will lose the ability to take part in elections.

UPD: The politician was released on the condition that he appear in court on Friday.
