Regarding Belarus. The outlet "Flagshtok" so far does not confirm an immediate threat to Ukraine from the territory of Belarus.
Details:
▪️After yesterday’s statement by Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian channels published information about a number of facilities that could pose a threat to Ukraine, in particular:
1) the new "Svecha" border outpost, Narovlya district;
2) a border post in the village of Karpovka, Loyev district;
3) a new military camp on the site of the former "Chaika" camp;
4) a large military training ground near Yakimovka station, Rechitsa district;
5) dams and embankments, construction of the "Eastern Bypass," Gomel district.
▪️"Flagshtok" currently sees no signs that these facilities pose an operational threat to Ukraine.
▪️The construction of the dams and the "Eastern Bypass" was designed several years ago to protect flood-prone parts of Gomel and Gomel district. These are protective anti-flood dams.
▪️The "Eastern Bypass" is a major bypass road around Gomel, which has been under construction since the mid-2000s with the aim of relieving the city of traffic.
▪️In 2025, the "Eastern Bypass" project was updated and construction resumed, but at a very slow pace. The funds allocated from the budget, around $5 million, are too small for construction on this scale. The commissioning date for just one section has been pushed back to 2029.
▪️The military camp and tactical field in the settlement of Pribor in Gomel district, as well as the training ground near the village of Yakimovka in Rechitsa district, intended for the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, will be built at least until 2028.
▪️Construction of border outposts along the Belarusian-Ukrainian border has been going on for several years as part of creating full-fledged border infrastructure.
▪️Such actions rather show that Alexander Lukashenko’s regime is not counting on the occupation of Ukraine’s northern territories and itself views them as a potential threat.
▪️"Flagshtok" did not find any new roads in the indicated areas on up-to-date satellite images. Nor were the corresponding tenders announced.
▪️As for the establishment of artillery positions mentioned in the Ukrainian president’s statement, "Flagshtok" so far cannot confirm or deny that they are being set up. But "Flagshtok" is aware of positions being equipped in Mozyr district; they are intended for air defense systems whose purpose is to protect the Mozyr Oil Refinery from direct threats.
That is how things stand for now.
Belarus Threat Gets Stuck in Construction
Border facilities so far show no confirmed operational threat to Ukraine.
Even the threat is waiting for funding.
