U.S. President Donald Trump will support the adoption of a new sanctions package against Russia, one of whose initiators was Senator Lindsey Graham, who died a few days ago, an unnamed White House representative told CNN.

The bill was introduced back in April 2025; in its original version it proposed 500% duties on products from countries buying Russian energy resources.

Trump had previously said that he would not mind supporting the bill, but only on the condition that he retained the right to make the final decision regarding any sanctions.
