Bulgaria announced its withdrawal from the ‘coalition of the willing’ supporting Ukraine

“The resolution of this conflict [between Russia and Ukraine] lies not in prolonging it through military means, but in a strong diplomatic mission that will finally put an end to the escalation,” said Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev.

Radev has consistently spoken out against financial aid to Ukraine and describes himself as a supporter of a “pragmatic approach” to relations with Russia.

Bulgarian representatives did not take part in the meeting of the heads of the countries participating in the “coalition of the willing,” which took place in Paris on July 13, although they had participated in previous summits.

The creation of the “coalition of the willing” was announced in spring 2025 by the authorities of the United Kingdom and France. It includes about 30 countries, including European Union member states, the United States, Australia, and Japan.
