What happens to Russian prisoners of war after an exchange? A former Russian POW answers firsthand. More precisely, a twice-captured POW.

Maxim Pavlovich Dymov from Sverdlovsk Region was first taken prisoner by Ukraine in December 2025 in Zaporizhzhia. On March 5, 2026, he returned to Russia, even appearing in our video during the exchange. After returning, the young man went through the “filtration” procedure, which we have already described more than once:

“They brought us to Moscow and interrogated us. We spent a month in Moscow. Then they took us to a unit in Zabaykalsky Krai, in the city of Borzya. They didn’t send us anywhere, neither for examination nor to a hospital”

A couple of months later, Maxim was back in Ukraine again. When he received a new combat order, he wrote a refusal to take part in combat operations and tried to get admitted to a hospital, but he was forced onto a flight and sent back to war. During his first combat mission after returning to the front, Dymov surrendered to a drone, and judging by his emotions during the interview with the Ukrainian military, he does not regret it one bit.

As we can see, no attempts to “dodge it” or refuse service help former Russian POWs after an exchange. Russia needs its “own” exclusively for repeated use as cannon fodder. Behind the cheap “show” around the exchange lies the brutal Russian reality, where people are nothing more than rightless slaves serving the “tsar.” In such a situation, the only guarantee of survival, in the face of an almost certain chance of being sent to slaughter, remains the “I Want to Live” project.
