Authorities plan to require migrants to buy a phone after moving to Russia

“Everyone is interested in what will happen in the future, where we are headed. Every migrant, upon registration, who comes here, especially for work or for a long period, will be required to purchase a phone. That phone will contain their electronic profile. And we will know the location of every migrant,” Deputy Interior Minister Igor Zubov said.

Thanks to this, the official said, migrants will not be able to move from one city to another “without control.”

Since September 2025, an experiment has already been underway in Moscow under which all foreigners who came to earn money are required to install the “Amina” app, which shows their location.
