Russia’s Interior Ministry promised to cancel fines for improper parking in gasoline lines

Fines issued to Russian drivers for violating stopping and parking rules while standing in lines for gasoline will be canceled, Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk promised.

For each such ruling, decisions will be made in all regional divisions of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry to cancel them, taking into account the insignificance of the committed administrative offense or the driver’s actions under conditions of extreme necessity.

Volk’s comment indicates that the fines will be canceled after the driver submits the relevant appeal.

Residents of the Saratov region had complained about fines issued to drivers standing in line for gasoline. Violations of parking and stopping rules near gas stations there were being recorded by automatic camera systems. As of July 1, Volk said, they have been turned off.
