Boris Nadezhdin has left Russia for France. Recently, the Russian authorities designated him a “foreign agent” and fined him over “extremist symbols.” As a result, one of the few anti-war politicians who had remained in Russia has lost the chance to take part in the parliamentary elections. In 2024, he tried to compete against Vladimir Putin in the presidential election, but he was then denied registration on a far-fetched pretext.
We show what became of some other politicians who ran, or wanted to run, in elections.
