The International Handball Federation has allowed Russian and Belarusian teams to take part in competitions

This is stated in a press release published on the IHF website. The organization also authorized the participation in its events of officials, referees, lecturers, and experts from Russia and Belarus.

“IHF acknowledges that full reintegration may require a transitional period for both Russian and Belarusian teams and officials. IHF looks forward to welcoming them back into the international handball community and hopes that, with the support and cooperation of all stakeholders, the necessary steps will be taken to ensure a timely and effective return,” the document says.

It also states that the organization reaffirms its “long-standing commitment” to the Handball Federation of Ukraine, continues to express solidarity with Ukraine, and “strongly condemns” the ongoing war in Ukraine and its “devastating consequences.”

🔵In early July 2026, the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) conditionally lifted the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), which had been in effect since October 12, 2023.

Condemnation of War Ends in Readmission

The federation readmitted teams and officials while keeping its solidarity with Ukraine.

The condemnation survived the readmission just fine.
