Former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov Is Again Denied Permission to Go to War

As Kommersant writes, the Moscow City Court rejected Timur Ivanov’s appeal against the refusal by the Moscow Military Commissariat and the Defense Ministry to sign a contract with him.

In July of last year, Ivanov had already filed a request to be sent to the war in a position corresponding to his military rank of major, but in October he was refused. The refusal said that there were no positions in the “West” troop grouping matching his military specialty, TASS writes.

Then, in November 2025, Ivanov again filed a request from pretrial detention to be sent to the war and said he was ready to serve in any position and at any rank. In February, Ivanov filed a lawsuit against the Defense Ministry and the Moscow Military Commissariat and said the ministry was ignoring his requests to send him to the war. In March, the former deputy defense minister was refused again.

🔵Timur Ivanov was detained in April 2024 on suspicion of taking a bribe on an especially large scale. In July 2025, he was found guilty in an embezzlement case. The court sentenced him to 13 years in a general-regime penal colony.
