The International Olympic Committee has started to smell of Kremlin drool and dollars.

In its naivete, the IOC hoped no one would catch this stench and everything would stay hushed up. Its decision to bring Russians back into big-time sport, the Olympic Committee naively disguised with talk of "sport outside politics."

But nine European countries have already smelled that familiar stink and demanded that the IOC be stripped of all EU funding.

Russia has a rare gift: absolutely everything it touches turns into a dump, ruins, and pus.

The IOC will probably be no exception.

The Committee's authority is not that great as it is, and its paradoxical need to serve Russian fascism and give it international publicity could doom the organization.

That would be fair.

Any athlete who wants to jump, sweat, and splash around has the option of changing their "sporting citizenship" and competing for any country not defiled by fascism.

The stubborn preservation of "loyalty" to Putin's Russian Federation is a declaration of agreement with occupation, genocide, and repression. It is proof that the individual is "part of the darkness" that wants to engulf the world.

Nine EU countries called for the IOC to be stripped of funding over the admission of Russians

Estonia was the initiator. The document was also signed by the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Sweden, Romania, Finland, and Denmark. The letter was sent to EU Commissioner for Youth, Culture and Sport Glenn Micallef.

The authors of the appeal propose ending funding through EU programs, including Erasmus+, for the IOC, the International Fencing Federation (FIE), and World Aquatics. In their view, organizations that allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate under national symbols are making decisions that run contrary to the values of the European Union.
