Zelensky nominated Yevhen Khmara for the post of Ukraine’s defense minister
Zelensky said he will ask lawmakers to support Major General Yevhen Khmara for the post of Ukraine’s defense minister. Before that, he instructed Khmara to serve as acting minister.
According to Zelensky, Khmara has “vast, in many ways unprecedented experience in carrying out technological strike operations,” as well as experience managing personnel at the SBU’s Alpha Special Operations Center. The president of Ukraine also said he had instructed him to continue reforming the defense sector.
🔵Khmara is currently serving as acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). He is considered one of the organizers of last year’s Operation Spiderweb, during which FPV drones hidden in trucks attacked Russian airfields housing strategic aviation.
🔵Today, former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov spoke about disagreements with the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that led to his departure. After his resignation, protests took place in a number of regions of Ukraine.
