Russian carriers are changing routes and raising rates due to a fuel shortage

This is reported by Ostorozhno, Novosti, citing the logistics operator Versta.

Because of the fuel shortage, carriers have started refusing long-haul trips and changing their logistics schemes, while some freight carriers are switching to operating within their own regions.

Versta suggests that up to 30–35% of small companies could leave the market. In addition, carriers have begun raising rates: the cost of intra-city transportation has increased by about 8–9%, and long-haul transportation by 10–11%.

Delivery problems are being observed in Krasnodar Krai and the Rostov, Volgograd, Samara, Voronezh, and Belgorod regions. Carriers have to factor in 1–2 extra days for long-distance routes because they will need to look for refueling along the way.

The company believes the situation may stabilize in the coming months if fuel supplies return to normal. At the same time, no decrease in the cost of long-haul transportation is expected.
