Mykhailo Fedorov gave his first press briefing after his resignation.
Here are the key points based on the broadcast by "Suspilne" and Yulia Zabelina.
Both comprehensive and so deep... Fedorov is talking about Syrskyi, but the way he says it. Listen.
▪️In fact, Syrskyi saved our country in 2022 as well. He carried out the Kyiv operation, he took part. He carried out the Kharkiv operation, he took part. He took part in the Kherson operation.
▪️We cannot underestimate a commander like that. But the war has changed completely. Drones are completely changing the architecture. New drone features appear at least four times a year. Certain things in technology change 20 to 30 times over the course of a year.
▪️The management system has changed, we have to change, we cannot keep going on what existed back then.
▪️President [Zelensky] said he does not plan to replace Syrskyi. That is his decision as commander-in-chief. I fully agreed with that decision and said: "Then I will learn to work with him, because our client is the Ukrainian people, not anyone else."
▪️But we ran into the fact that all the initiatives we proposed started being blocked. And Syrskyi, despite all the problems, is NOT ready to speak openly to your face about the problems.
▪️He [Syrskyi] is ready to go to meetings, spin intrigues, think that someone commissioned some kind of campaign in the media, instead of thinking the problem lies in the actions taking place. And that led to the fact that he effectively issued an ultimatum.
▪️Instead of figuring out how to defeat Russia asymmetrically, which is the commander-in-chief's task, he figured out how to split the country, where we are today. And that is the big problem.
▪️Radical personnel decisions were proposed: replacing the commander-in-chief and the chief of the General Staff. But I did not set conditions: either me or Syrskyi. I said: then we will defeat Russia with this commander-in-chief.
▪️I said today that we need to talk like adults: today we have no other option except to defeat the enemy asymmetrically, with minimal losses. Where strong commanders will be able to develop, where they will not be strangled, written off, suppressed, and so on.
▪️I refused the adviser position. I never had a goal of becoming a minister or looking for positions for myself. What I do is about values. I see that the truth needs to be spoken. You cannot be hostage to some obligations.
▪️For seven years next to the president I carried out reforms and was in those hot spots of the country's transformation where I was sent. But today the issue is not about me. The issue is about all of us.
▪️Either we close our eyes and say: "Okay, let everything stay as it was." Or we say: "Stop, the Ukrainian people actually know how to fight, the Ukrainian people have every tool to stop the enemy."
▪️We must not be like the Russians. We must change our approaches. And we must speak the truth.
▪️The conversation with President [Zelensky] was normal. But, let's put it this way, the choice has probably been made or will be made. My task today is to show what we have done and to speak about the risks that await us.
▪️President [Zelensky] has not let me down in seven years yet. I am [speaking] about him with respect now, but when 90% of the people who come to him are people whose interests we obstructed with our decisions, it is hard for him as a manager to analyze all of that together.
▪️I do not want to look my children in the eyes later because I failed to say what is really happening.
▪️The practices of "Skala" need to be brought into line. (This refers to the 425th Separate Assault Regiment "Skala," which was the subject of a Babel investigation, which uncovered hazing, torture, and beatings of people resulting in death.)
▪️In order to eliminate all crimes and schemes, and so that we do not have so-called "Skalas," Syrskyi and the chief of the General Staff need to be replaced.
