Officially: Zelensky appointed Yevhen Khmara acting defense minister.
Officially: Zelensky appointed Yevhen Khmara acting defense minister.
Clear enough. Zelensky did not expect such a reaction from the public, even though it was obvious. Either Ihor Klymenko himself did not want to put himself in the line of fire, or the deputies did not support his candidacy. Even though today two positive assessments of Klymenko were voiced, from Azov commander Denys "Redis" Prokopenko and former Azov chief of staff Bohdan "Tavr" Krotevych. So a decision was made from the category of "neither for you nor for us."
As for Yevhen Khmara, he is an extremely deserving general about whom I have heard only good things. The former head of the SBU's CSO "A," one of the most effective units of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
It is just that Khmara is currently acting head of the SBU. I do not know how effective it is to stretch one person across two positions at such a time... In any case, strength and good luck to General Khmara in carrying all of this on his own.
One Vacancy Filled With Two Jobs
Khmara became acting defense minister while remaining acting head of the SBU.
The personnel bench fit into one man again.
