The Venice Biennale has partly lost its reason to exist. The two-million-euro grant from the European Commission has been canceled and “taken off the agenda.”

The organizers paid the price for reopening the “Russian pavilion.”

They were warned nicely, but the urge to “rise above” worldly fuss, mounds of corpses, and Gestapo-style brutality won out.

“Russian art,” however, turned out to be vague and deathly boring crap, not something worth risking funding and a good name for.

Deprived of their most important subsidy, the culture people “lay down in their coffins and gave off a mournful smell.”

The European Commission stripped the Venice Biennale of a 2 million euro grant because of the Russian pavilion

This was stated at a briefing in Brussels by European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier, TASS reported.

According to him, the European Commission had opposed the return of the Russian pavilion from the very beginning and sent the Biennale organizers three letters. After assessing the responses received, the commission recommended canceling the grant.

Roughly the same story awaits the IOC. The absurd admission of Russians into big-time sport will still come back on the Olympic Committee.

It will start with funding withdrawals, grow into a partial boycott, and then into even sadder consequences for the stupid IOC.

Any attempts to touch up Russia’s mug with a bit of “culture” or sport are pointless.
