Remeslo is accused of publicly spreading fake information about the Russian Armed Forces; he faces up to 10 years in prison. He will be taken from St. Petersburg to Moscow, where a court is to choose a preventive measure for him.

The Z-blogger was known for criticizing Navalny. From 2017 to 2023, Ilya Remeslo was a member of Russia’s Civic Chamber. He was responsible for countering the spread of false information on the internet and also acted as a complainant in a number of criminal cases. In March 2026, he abruptly flipped and published several posts on his Telegram channel sharply criticizing the old man and the special military operation. However, soon after that he ended up in a psychiatric hospital in St. Petersburg. Remeslo was released from the psych ward on April 17. He rejected all speculation about relatives and about the claim that he had been given permission from above in advance to write his opposition posts. Stating that he regrets nothing.
