In Volgograd, local residents who recorded a video appeal to Bastrykin over the fuel crisis were detained — security forces deemed it an unauthorized rally

According to him, several Volgograd residents gathered on July 16 not far from the gas station on Rokossovsky Street. In their video appeal to the head of the Investigative Committee, they spoke about high gasoline prices.

“They complained that the companies selling fuel had jacked up prices. There’s little gasoline as it is, and on top of that they hiked the prices,” the lawyer noted.

After that, police officers arrived at the gas station and detained five participants. They were accused of holding an unauthorized rally. Later, four of them were released from the police station, while one of them — Alexey Sevastyanov — was kept in custody overnight. He was also given five days of arrest for disobeying the police.

“He refused to comply with the police’s demands, but the police’s demands were unlawful. They twisted him up, bent his arms behind his back, and kept him at the police station all night. Today they held him liable for not complying with police demands,” the lawyer added.
