Moscow's Meshchansky Court has ordered the arrest of Dmitry Kolobov, the former director of the Industry Development and Socially Significant Goods Department at the Industry and Trade Ministry, in a case involving embezzlement in import substitution. TASS reports this.

The former official was remanded in custody until September 16. When the judge was reading out the detention order, Kolobov fainted.

The case is connected to the embezzlement of funds allocated to innovative projects under import substitution.

"The damage from just one episode, related to the production of adult diapers from Russian cellulose, amounts to more than 50 million rubles," law enforcement agencies said.

They did not rule out that new episodes may emerge in the case, and that the total damage could amount to around 1 billion rubles.
