Putin signed a law reducing the list of crimes that bar people from signing a contract with the Defense Ministry

Putin signed a Federal Law amending the article "On Military Duty and Military Service." The document clarifies the list of articles of the Russian Criminal Code for which a conviction or an ongoing investigation bars a person from being sent to the front by signing a contract during the period of mobilization, RusNews noted.

Some categories were removed from the disqualifying list:

Minor and medium-gravity crimes.

Certain crimes involving the circulation of weapons and explosive substances, violations of safety regulations, as well as some types of military and transport crimes.

At the same time, people with convictions or ongoing investigations under articles related to pedophilia, terrorism, treason, espionage, sabotage, extremism, extortion, and a number of other grave crimes against the state and public safety remain barred from signing a contract.

The law has been published on the legal acts website and has entered into force.
