Politician Boris Nadezhdin’s autobiography removed from Russian marketplaces

Russian marketplaces have removed politician Boris Nadezhdin’s book “Queue for Hope: An Autobiography With an Open Ending,” Verstka noticed.

Pages for the book have been removed, in particular, from the Litres website, from stores Chitai-Gorod and book24. In addition, the book was removed from the Yandex Books service, and product listings for it disappeared from Wildberries and Ozon.

At the same time, on Litres, pages for both the book itself and its author have been removed, although, judging by the web archive, they were still available as of July 11. Litres’ press service told Verstka that the book was “withdrawn from sale by decision of the rights-holding publisher.”

On the Eksmo publishing house website, the page for the book remains, but it is not for sale. Verstka was able to find it only on Yandex Market at a price of about 5,500 rubles per copy.

Nadezhdin said on July 20 that the book had disappeared from Wildberries and had sharply risen in price on Ozon. A day earlier, he announced that he was ending his campaign for nomination in the State Duma elections because of pressure from the authorities.

🟦On July 10, the Justice Ministry designated Boris Nadezhdin a “foreign agent.” On July 17, a court fined him 1,000 rubles under the article on “extremist symbols” for a photo of Alexei Navalny. On August 3, Nadezhdin said that he had left Russia, and on August 4 it became known that a new protocol had been drawn up against him under the article on “undesirable” organizations, over an interview with Meduza.
