Expert on Putin’s words about the ‘end of the war’: ‘They reflect the general mood and desire we see in Russia and among the Russian elites. But that does not mean it will happen that way’

Expert on Putin’s words about the ‘end of the war’: ‘They reflect the general mood and desire we see in Russia and among the Russian elites. But that does not mean it will happen that way’
During yesterday’s press conference, Putin said that "things are moving toward the end" of the war in Ukraine.
But is there really anything new in these words from Putin? Or was it simply an attempt to seize the information initiative? TV Rain asked Kirill Rogov, founder of the expert-analytical project RE:Russia, about this.
According to him, during the May 9 press scrum Vladimir Putin was trying to look fluffy and peace-loving: "Russia is always yielding to everyone, always looking for some kind of reasonable way out."
The words that "all this is moving toward an end" also reflect the general mood and desire that we see in Russia and among the Russian elites, and are, in a way, encouraging. But that does not mean it will all happen that way.
And it is quite possible that this will indeed be used as a pretext, as a way to present it as Putin being the one who wants peace, while certain globalist forces in the West and Zelensky are resisting it.
He added that Russia’s main condition remains Ukraine’s surrender of the entire Donetsk region:
And this, in essence, brings the situation back to the same point. Today Ukraine has virtually no grounds to surrender Donbas, and if it is prepared to surrender it, then only in exchange for very serious security guarantees from the United States and the West. But the United States, for its part, is not prepared to provide such security guarantees.
So if we analyze this strictly, harshly, based on what was said, we are at the same point, only in approaching that point Putin is trying to look like a peacemaker.

Peaceful Tone, Same Old Condition
Putin speaks of ending the war; surrender of all Donetsk still remains.
The peacemaker still starts with someone else's surrender.
