Russia has approved a concept for historical education in kindergartens, schools, and universities. It includes large-scale events dedicated to the memory of participants in the war in Ukraine

Russia’s Education Ministry has approved and sent to the regions a concept for historical education covering all levels of study, from kindergartens to universities. The goal of the document is to “form an all-Russian civic identity among young people,” writes РИА Новости.

The program is рассчитана на five years and envisions not only updating educational courses, but also creating a specialized information platform in 2027.

The practical part of the concept includes large-scale events dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, as well as to the memory of participants in the war in Ukraine.

The educational process also includes themed Olympiads, quests, research projects, and specialized history clubs.

“A separate emphasis in the concept is placed on teaching schoolchildren the skills of critically assessing information, working with sources, and countering the falsification of history,” Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov said.

Implementation of the concept will begin on September 1 of this year.
