Former Industry and Trade Ministry official suspected of embezzlement in import substitution for diapers

Moscow’s Meshchansky District Court has arrested Dmitry Kolobov, the former director of the Industry Development and Socially Significant Goods Department at the Industry and Trade Ministry.

The investigation is connected to the theft of budget funds allocated for the implementation of innovative projects under the import substitution program.

According to a TASS source, the damage in one episode involving the production of adult diapers from Russian cellulose amounts to more than 50 million rubles. But new episodes may appear in the case, and the total damage may rise to one billion rubles.

When the judge was reading out the detention order, Kolobov fainted.
