After the start of the full-scale war, Ukraine and several European countries that had been part of the USSR and the Eastern Bloc demolished dozens of Soviet monuments to liberator soldiers as part of decommunization policy.

The authorities of Kaliningrad, an exclave city bordering Lithuania and Poland, decided to document this phenomenon and in 2025 opened the "Saved Europe" park. There they installed copies of seven demolished monuments.
