Instagram was blocked in Russia shortly after the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022. But Russians did not go anywhere from Instagram; more than that, their posts are becoming increasingly politicized. Because of internet shutdowns, rising food prices, and other social problems, users are publishing more and more posts criticizing the authorities, either directly or indirectly, in the form of jokes and memes. What exactly are they unhappy about? We show it through several examples.
