Alexey Marushchenko, the founder of the “Hawk PMC,” was found guilty on charges of extortion, fraud, organizing a murder, two counts of kidnapping, illegal weapons trafficking, and abuse of official powers, Ostorozhno, Novosti writes.
The prosecution requested 20 years in a penal colony, but Alexey was sentenced to 18 years. He admitted guilt and made a deal with the investigation.
In his testimony, Alexey Marushchenko also spoke about handing over a bribe to General Alexander Dembitsky, who supported the Hawk PMC. Dembitsky was detained in early June and is now being held in Lefortovo pretrial detention center.
🩵Earlier, Verstka included Marushchenko in its list of “zeroers” — commanders who kill and torture their fellow servicemen. According to Verstka, he appointed “commanders not from among military men and professionals, but from among his loyal friends,” who collected “100,000 rubles from each fighter.”
