Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that there are no grounds to put the question of the country's withdrawal from the EAEU on the agenda.

He also urged people not to confuse "interstate relations with marriage" and added that Armenia for now remains a full member of the EAEU, and "is guided by interstate logic in interstate relations."

Pashinyan also said that he will not take part in the upcoming meeting of EAEU leaders in Astana because of the election campaign. Earlier, the Armenian prime minister did not come to the May 9 parade in Moscow, also explaining this by the start of the campaign.

On May 9, Putin said that Armenia's "plans to join the European Union" require "special consideration," saying that "Armenia receives significant advantages within the EAEU."

"It is none of our business, but in principle it would be quite logical to hold a referendum and ask the citizens of Armenia what their choice will be. In accordance with that, we would also draw the appropriate conclusions and proceed along the path of a soft, intelligent, and mutually beneficial divorce," Putin said.

After that, he added that what is "happening in the Ukrainian direction" began with "Ukraine's attempt to join the EU": "All of this then led to a coup d'etat, the Crimean story, the position of southeastern Ukraine, and military action."
