The European Union imposed sanctions on the Orlyonok children’s camp

The EU Council reported that it had imposed sanctions on 16 individuals and seven legal entities responsible for the “forcible transfer, forced assimilation, and militarized upbringing of Ukrainian minors.”

Those sanctioned include the children’s centers Orlyonok, Scarlet Sails, and Smena. According to the press release, the camps, in coordination with local authorities, organize programs in which children “are subjected to pro-Russian ideological indoctrination.”

In addition, the list includes a DOSAAF center in Sevastopol, the Nakhimov Naval School, and the Patriot military-patriotic club in Crimea.

Officials and politicians from the occupied territories were also sanctioned, along with the heads of youth camps and military-patriotic clubs and organizations.

All of them are responsible for promoting the patriotic and military upbringing of young people through ideological indoctrination, familiarization with Russian military culture, paramilitary training, and participation in events glorifying Russia’s aggressive war,

the press release says.

🔵The European Council notes that since the start of the war, Russia has forcibly transferred about 20,500 Ukrainian children.
