Starting March 1, banks in Russia will block transfers if they detect "malicious software" on a device, said Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma committee on the financial market.

"If they detect the presence of malicious software code on a device, money transfer operators must immediately check and stop the [transaction]," he told РИА Новости, reminding that under the law, starting March 1 the list of signs of suspicious operations to which money transfer operators — banks and telecom companies — must respond is being expanded. After the block, banks will ask the client to confirm the operation.
