The Investigative Committee dropped the abuse-of-power case over the broken arm of a Ryazan teacher whom police mistook for a drug stash courier

Valentina Volkova published a post about this on her VKontakte page; independent outlet 7x7 drew attention to it.

According to her, at the end of July the woman’s lawyer received a letter notifying him that the investigator had closed the criminal case due to the absence of a criminal event. Later, Volkova herself received a message from the Investigative Committee (IC) saying the case had been closed, but on different grounds: because there was no corpus delicti in the police officers’ actions.

The teacher added that on July 2 she was “at another investigative procedure,” but the issue of closing the criminal case was not raised at all. At the same time, the first letter her lawyer received was dated July 3.

“On July 7 my lawyer and I were again in the office of that very same investigator. And again, not a word about the criminal case being closed! But the documents we received show that by that point it had already been closed!” Volkova wrote.

🔵Earlier, Ryazan pensioner and former teacher Valentina Volkova told and showed how police officers mistook her for a drug stash courier. According to her, she was sitting in a park photographing flowers when a man with no insignia approached her and rudely demanded maps (which stash couriers use in their work) and her phone.

🔵The police said they noticed “signs of unlawful actions” in the woman and stopped her “for inspection.” When she tried to leave, they put her in handcuffs “to prevent escape.”

🔵As a result of the detention, Volkova was diagnosed with a fractured shoulder, a torn tendon, and multiple hematomas.
