The Investigative Committee in Ryazan has closed the criminal case against police officers who, more than a year ago, broke teacher Valentina Volkova’s arm after mistaking her for a drug dead-drop courier. Volkova herself reported the termination of the case on social media.

It took me several days to recover from this news. The criminal case has been closed, not sent to court, not extended, not transferred somewhere else, but closed. Just closed. As if nothing had happened. There were no bruises or hematomas, no fractures, no torn tendon, no handcuffs, there was nothing at all. No one is guilty of anything. the teacher said.

The police attacked 54-year-old Valentina Volkova in May 2025 near the house where she lived. According to her, she was photographing flowers in a meadow, and the police mistook her for a drug dead-drop courier.

The police took the teacher’s phone, twisted her arms, put handcuffs on her, and dragged her into a car. After the incident, Volkova was diagnosed with a fractured shoulder, a torn tendon, and multiple bruises.
