Putin spoke with an Airborne Forces colonel whom Z-bloggers ‘buried’ last year

On the evening of August 6, Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with Colonel Abdulaziz Shikhabidov, commander of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division of the Airborne Forces. A recording of the conversation was published by the state news agency TASS.

During the conversation, Shikhabidov reported that his division is carrying out combat missions in the Dobropolye direction in Donbas.

In May of last year, several schools in Dagestan, where the colonel is from, held memorial events dedicated to Shikhabidov’s memory. Photos and videos were published in local public pages, according to Agenstvo. One such photo report was later deleted.

Later, information about Abdulaziz Shikhabidov’s death was published by some Russian outlets (for example, Life) and also confirmed by Z-bloggers. They wrote that the colonel had been buried at Troyekurovskoye Cemetery in Moscow. The circumstances of his death were not specified.
