Residents of Russia under the age of 18 may be banned from receiving SMS mailings, including messages required for authorization in social networks. The corresponding amendments were proposed by the Digital Development Ministry.
Among the other restrictions for minors are a ban on calls to foreign numbers and restrictions on communications while roaming in other countries.
Representatives of the Digital Development Ministry explained that this is not about restricting access to social networks at the state level. Mobile operators would be able to introduce all of the listed bans "only at the initiative and with the consent of parents."
