“These are national traitors. These are people close to Western values.” Rodina explained why it filed a lawsuit to remove Yabloko from the election
Rodina party chairman Alexei Zhuravlev explained why he filed a statement of claim with the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation seeking to remove the Yabloko party from the State Duma elections:
The Yabloko party are national traitors. These are people who work for the West. These are people close to Western values. The ones who demand our capitulation. But, what is very important, since we are a democratic country, we cannot remove them for these things, because we have, you know, freedom of speech.
Though a word like that ought to be shut up. But the Rodina party directly carried out serious work, and we examined from a legal point of view what the Yabloko party is violating.
And to our great surprise, even from a legal point of view, they comply with practically no laws. Neither election laws, nor advertising laws, and so on. Accordingly, we found a mass of violations. First and foremost, these are violations related to financing.
🔵Yesterday, many opposition politicians called on voters to vote for Yabloko on the party lists in the State Duma elections. In particular, this was done by Yulia Navalnaya, Ilya Yashin, Vladimir Kara-Murza, Lyubov Sobol, Andrei Pivovarov, and others.
🔵Immediately afterward, LDPR chairman Leonid Slutsky said that Yabloko should be recognized as an “undesirable organization.”
🔵In response, Yabloko chairman Nikolai Rybakov said on his Telegram channel that the party is in no way connected with the opposition figures who supported it.
