Wildberries to raise insurance costs for sellers by 40%, adding risks tied to drone attacks
Wildberries will raise the cost of product insurance for sellers by 40%, adding the risks of UAV attacks
Marketplace Wildberries has changed the terms of product insurance for sellers, raising its cost by 40% and adding risks associated with drones, “Verstka” noticed.
The new terms will take effect on August 7. According to a notice published on the company’s portal, insurance coverage will include one more type of risk: damage to and loss of goods during terrorist attacks, sabotage, drone attacks, and their consequences.
The company added that because of the expanded insurance coverage, the rates will also change and will reach 1.96-5.6% of the cost of the goods depending on their category. Previously, insurance for sellers amounted to 1.4-4%, meaning the increase will be 40%.
“You will be able to receive compensation for damage to and loss of goods caused by a direct terrorist attack and sabotage; the consequences of terrorist attacks and sabotage. For example, if goods are damaged by a fire after UAV debris falls,” the insurance terms say.
Wildberries said the insurance will cover the periods of delivery, storage at pickup points, and reverse logistics in the event of refusal, return, or non-purchase of an order. The maximum amount of compensation will be 50 thousand rubles per item in an order, but no more than 100 thousand rubles for each case.
