Latvian Defense Minister Spruds resigned over Ukrainian drones entering the country
Prime Minister Evika Silina announced the decision. According to her, what happened showed that the leadership of the defense sector "failed to fulfill the promise of a safe sky over our country." Silina said that the head of the Defense Ministry had lost her trust and the trust of society, so she demanded his resignation.
Let us recall that on May 7, two drones crashed in Latvia, one of them on the grounds of an oil depot in the city of Rezekne. Local authorities said the drones had flown from the direction of Russia. Russia's Defense Ministry reported that at that moment air defense systems detected military aircraft and six UAVs in Latvian airspace, after which the objects disappeared from radar.
