A Sochi resident was fined over a post with “Catolf Kitler” in a case about displaying Nazi symbols

The ruling by Sochi’s Adler District Court says that a local resident published the “symbols of ‘Catolf Kitler’” on Telegram. The court deemed them “Nazi paraphernalia used by the Third Reich.” The court decision was noted by Verstka and Mediazona.

The author of the post admitted guilt and received the minimum fine: 1,000 rubles.

What exactly the defendant published is unknown. Verstka suggests it may be a photograph of a cat with a distinctive facial coloring that resembles Adolf Hitler’s mustache and hairstyle. Whether the publication contained Nazi symbols is unknown.

There is a satirical website on the internet, catsthatlooklikehitler.com (literally: “Cats that look like Hitler”), with photographs of such cats. It has not been updated for several years.
