The U.S. is ready to allow Turkey to transfer 70 ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine

The U.S. State Department has notified Congress of two planned transfers of weapons to Ukraine from Turkish stockpiles. One package includes 70 M39 ATACMS ballistic missiles. The second includes 12 M270 launchers, 2,524 unguided M26 rockets with cluster warheads, and 47,000 M509A1 203-mm cluster shells.

The documents say that Turkey wants to reduce its stockpiles of obsolete weapons in order to direct funds toward modernization and maintenance of existing systems, while Ukraine intends to obtain the weapons to strengthen its offensive and defensive fire capabilities.

🔵In November 2025, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the first time officially announced the use of ATACMS against military targets on Russian territory, calling it a “landmark event.” Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed an attack on Voronezh by four missiles fired, according to it, from Kharkiv region.

🔵The ministry claimed that all the missiles had been shot down, and that their debris damaged the roofs of a geriatric center, an orphanage, and a private house. According to the Defense Ministry, there were no deaths or injuries among civilians.
