Eksmo publishing house confirmed the detention of its CEO and several other employees

The publishing house’s press service told Gazeta.Ru.

They noted that Yevgeny Kapyev and several other employees were taken for questioning at the Investigative Committee in a criminal extremism case. The press service said the detention was connected to the case against the Popcorn Books publishing house.

“We confirm the fact that the general director of the Eksmo publishing house and several other employees were brought in for questioning at the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation as part of investigative actions in a criminal extremism case (the distribution of books by the Popcorn Books publishing house), which was opened in May 2025. No investigative actions were carried out in the publishing house’s office. We have no additional information,” Eksmo said.

A REN TV source noted that one of those detained is Eksmo editor-in-chief Alexandra Shipetina.
