Russia plans to halt supplies of Kazakh oil to Germany through the Druzhba oil pipeline

The supplies are set to be suspended starting May 1, Reuters reports, citing three industry sources. According to them, an adjusted oil export schedule has already been sent to Kazakhstan and Germany.

A full halt would deprive Germany of about 17% of the nearly 12 million metric tons of oil processed annually at the PCK refinery, one of the country’s largest, located in the city of Schwedt in northeastern Germany.

Reuters writes that fuel from this refinery is used to fill nine out of ten cars in Berlin and the federal state of Brandenburg.

Press secretary Dmitry Peskov earlier said that he was not aware of plans to halt oil exports and added that the Kremlin “will try to check this.”

Kazakhstan’s Energy Ministry and the German government also did not provide the agency with immediate comment.
